Description
Welcome to the 56th issue of Elska, our debut Balkan journey, which takes off in Pristina, Kosovo…
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This is quite a remarkable edition, one that stands out from past Elskas in multiple ways:
One, this issue was made as a collaboration between photographers Liam Campbell and Philip Mowbray — Philip took the lead on environmental photography (including lots of spomeniks) while Liam focused on portraits of local men (including lots of nudes).
Two, multiple locations are featured, starting with Pristina, but then following on as Liam travelled southwards to Skopje (North Macedonia) and to Thessaloniki (Greece), sharing more stories and more men along the way.
Three, this is the first Elska to feature film photography, that very special artform that fits perfectly with Elska’s goal to espouse ‘the beauty of imperfection’.
Four, the texts in this issue harken back to Elska’s heritage by having multiple authors. There’s the new-era style (documentary-esque tales from Liam’s diaries) and the original-era style (vignettes from some of the men who Liam met on this journey).
‘Elska Pristina’ features eleven chapters and the following elskans: Jeton S, Philip M, Luigj U, Art L, Haki L, Zippy S, Aleksandar K, Panos P, and Nathan J.
